Scotties vie for WPIAL Class AA track honors today

By The 1 min read

The last time the Southmoreland boys advanced to the WPIAL Class AA Team Track & Field Championships the Scotties lost to Freeport by the slimmest of margins, 751/2-741/2. Southmoreland hopes to find that elusive point today when it travels to Mars High School today at 3:30 p.m. to vie for the district title along with the host school, Riverside and New Brighton.

The Scotties advanced to this year’s title quadrangular by defeating McGuffey (106-44), Brentwood (991/2-491/2), and Apollo-Ridge (89-61) at home last Tuesday. New Brighton beat Waynesburg Central (83-56), South Park (82-68), and Greensburg Central Catholic (73-72). Mars advanced with wins over Mohawk (1091/2-401/2), Rochester (105-45), and Bentworth (116-34) while Riverside beat Beth-Center (129-15), South Side Beaver (82-68), and Center (76-74).
