By The 1 min read

The Mid Mon Valley All Sports Hall of Fame selection committee recently announced its class of inductions for 2007. The new class includes the late Peter Daley Sr., a 1939 Brownsville High School graduate, and Tom Parks, a 1978 Belle Vernon graduate.

Other inductees are the late James Baynes, a 1948 Charleroi graduate; Ringgold’s Dr. Brad Ferrara, a 1988 graduate; Ron Hughes, a 1961 Charleroi graduate; Bob Johnson, a 1960 Monongahela High School graduate; and Dennis Laskey, a Dunlevy native and Charleroi graduate.

During the 1940s, Daley was the starting halfback at the University of Pittsburgh and was heralded by coach Wes Fesler as Pittsburgh’s “Bantam Back.”

Parks led the Belle Vernon basketball team to the school’s first WPIAL championship. He went on to have a standout basketball stint at Robert Morris College before joining its Sports Hall of Fame in 1993.

The induction ceremonies for the honorees will be held on Saturday, June 16, at the Elmo Natali Performance Center on the campus of California University of Pa. at 5:30 p.m.

The selection committee chose this year’s inductees from an extensive list of biographies of Mon Valley athletes. This year’s class represents a group of inductees from various athletic affiliations and communities in the Mid Mon Valley.
