Kabana leads California past Carmichaels Ryan Kabana ripped three singles, including the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning as California downed Carmichaels 7-6 in Fayette County League baseball action Wednesday.

Carmichaels jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after the first inning, then Cal inched its way back into the game with three runs in the fourth and a pair in the fifth to tie the game.

After a Carmichaels’ scored in the top of the sixth, Kabana stepped to the plate in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and drove in Neil Pascarella and Jason Britton for the win.

In addition to Kabana’s three singles, Garrett Balas doubled and drove in two runs in the fourth inning, and Britton singled twice.

Dan Novak and Rick Smykla tripled and doubled for Carmichaels.

Winning pitcher Andy Galis worked one and two-thirds inning with one hit, three strikeouts and two walks.

California (2-1) plays Blaney Farms June 6.

Michael’s Hero’s 7, Phil’s Tire 3 – Justin Corso doubled and singled as Michael’s Hero’s cruised to an easy win over visiting Phil’s Tire.

Teammate Ashly Menear also doubled, while Jamie Kowalczyk and Mark Shallenberger each singled twice.

Jody Wilkerson doubled for Phil’s lone extra base hit.

Winning pitcher Shane Tonkavitch went the distance with seven strikeouts and four walks.

Craig Conforti went on record with the loss. In four innings of action, he struck out two and walked three.

Michael’s Heros plays Blaney Farms at 6 p.m. today.

Blaney Farms 11, Potter’s 2 – Todd Dunham and Bill Rouse doubled, and Shayne Busti singled twice and drove in two runs as Blaney Farms rolled past visiting Potter’s.

Teammate Jim Cales singled twice for Blaney Farms.

Chris Brunson recorded the win on the mound for Blaney Farms with five innings of action, six hits, two runs, five strikeouts and a walk.

Scott Hruby was the losing pitcher. He worked three and one-third innings for Potter’s with five runs and a strikeout.

Casey Kupets was the bright point for Potter’s offense with a double.

Fayette American Legion

Connellsville 4, Charleroi 3 – It took Connellsville seven innings to get warmed up, but put up two runs in the eighth and two in the ninth for the come-from-behind win over Charleroi in Fayette American Legion action.

Charleroi got on the scoreboard first with two runs after two innings and added a single score in the top of the seventh for the 3-0 lead.

Andy Schleihauf and Alex Fogle paced Connellsville each with a double, while Andrew Kaper singled twice.

Brendon Costantino doubled for the lone Charleroi extra base hit.

Winning pitcher Ben Herrington went the distance with nine hits, three runs, eight strikeouts and five walks.

Matt Dishong went on record with the loss. He worked eight innings, allowed four runs with six strikeouts and two walks.

Connellsville (2-0) plays California on Friday.

Uniontown 12, Carmichaels 3 – Carmen Congelio ripped a two-run home run in the fifth inning and was 3-for-4 on the day with two additional singles as Uniontown upended visiting Carmichaels in Legion play.

Teammates Mike Newhouse doubled and Mike Pegg added two singles.

Josh Myers came away with the win on the mound with five innings of action, seven strikeouts and three walks.

Cory Titchnol went on record with the loss. In three and one-third innings of action, he struck out three and walked three.

Tim Voithofer put Carmichaels on the scoreboard with a home run.

Uniontown (1-0) is back in action Friday at Colonial 3.
