Lapkowicz fires 3-hitter as Carmichaels tops Charleroi Joby Lapkowicz hurled the three-hitter with 11 strikeouts as Carmichaels downed host Charleroi 7-4 in Fayette County League action Tuesday.
Lapkowicz also led Carmichaels at the plate with a triple and single.
Teammates Scott Throckmorton, Marcus Robinson and Aaron Thompson each doubled.
Thompson went 3-for-4.
Carmichaels jumped out to an early 5-0 lead through the first five innings, but Charleroi inched its way back into the game with single scores in the last four innings.
Carmichaels put the icing on the cake with a pair of runs in the eighth inning. They host Uniontown Saturday at 2 p.m.
Fayette American Legion
Colonial 6, Belle Vernon 5 – Nick Molchan drilled three singles, landed on base five times and drove in two runs as Colonial defeated host Belle Vernon in Fayette American Legion play.
Teammate Neil Novak tripled, while Nick Eadie hit three singles and drove in a run.
Winning pitcher Dave Genua picked up the win with eight strikeouts in six innings of action with one walk and one hits batsman. Genua singled twice.
Jake Cramer pace Belle Vernon with a double and single.
Justin Berklovich also doubled, and Nolan Russell singled twice.
Colonial visits Charleroi today starting at 6 p.m.
