Steelers release Tuman, Kriewaldt and Rossum
PITTSBURGH (AP) – The Pittsburgh Steelers have released three veteran players. The team said Friday it terminated the contracts of tight end Jerame Tuman, linebacker Clint Kriewaldt and cornerback/kick returner Allen Rossum.
Tuman, picked in the fifth round in 1999, played in 121 games for the Steelers. He caught 43 passes for 500 yards and scored seven touchdowns.
Tuman, who started in 56 games, missed much of last season because of a back injury.
The Steelers signed Kriewaldt as an unrestricted free agent in 2003 and played in 74 games for Pittsburgh. He was placed on injured reserve in January with a neck injury.
Rossum was acquired in September from the Atlanta Falcons for a conditional 2008 draft pick. A 10-year veteran, Rossum led the Steelers with 38 kickoff returns for 885 yards and a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against San Francisco.
