Lady Panthers upset DePaul behind Zellous’ 31

CHICAGO (AP) – Shavonte Zellous scored 31 points to lead Pittsburgh to a 97-68 win over No. 15 DePaul on Sunday. Pittsburgh (11-3) took the lead from the start and never relinquished it. It went into halftime with a 43-29 advantage.

Marcedes Walker had 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for Pitt. Jania Sims chipped in 11 points and Xenia Stewart added 10.

Allie Quigley and Caprice Smith led the Blue Demons (11-3) with 15 points each. Deirdre Naughton scored 13 and Natasha Williams added 10.

Pitt’s reserves outscored Depaul’s substitutes 30-12.

The Panthers shot consistently better than DePaul, making 56.8 percent (21-of-37) of their shots from the field in the second half. That compared to DePaul’s 38.7 percent (12-of-31) after the break.
