Pelehac, Onesko pace Lady Falcons Angela Pelehac and Cassie Onesko each dropped in a game-high 20 points as Brownsville upended Chartiers-Houston 52-34 in non-section girls basketball action Friday.

Pelehac (5) and Onesko (4) put on a three-point clinic, while teammate Emily Lucosh got in on the action with a 3-pointer and seven total points.

Lucosh added five steals.

“We started out real well, hitting our outside shots,” Brownsville coach Greg Golembiewski said. “They are playing well, and we need to step it up a little down the stretch and handle the ball a little better.”

Stacey Knox added five points for the Lady Falcons and pulled down seven offensive and two defensive rebounds.

Sophomore guard Katie Rosemier paced Chartiers-Houston with 13 points, including a perfect 3-of-3 outing from the line.

Brownsville (15-4) hosts Washington Monday.

“We need to mature more going into the second half of the season,” said Golembiewski.

Waynesburg Central 52, West Greene 43 – Rachael Corfont led Waynesburg Central with 16 points, en route to a non-section win over host West Greene.

Jesse Kisner also eclipsed the double-digit mark with 12 points.

The Lady Raiders scored on 23 field goals and were 3-of-8 from the line, while the Lady Pioneers netted 14 field goals and were 15-of-23 from the foul line.

West Greene’s Angela Devenney led all scorers with 18 points, six of which came from the charity stripe, while teammate Sam Milliken added 15.

Waynesburg (4-10) hosts Southmoreland Monday.

Boys basketball

Latrobe 81, Albert Gallatin 37 – Jeff Yunetz poured in a game-high 25 points, including four 3-pointers, as Latrobe rolled past Albert Gallatin in Section 1-AAAA action.

It was smooth sailing for the Wildcats as they jumped out to an early 28-15 first-quarter lead and never looked back.

Chris James was next in the scoring column with eight.

Aaron Cromwell paced the Colonials with 12 points, including one from three-point land, while teammate Anthony Stevenson also eclipsed the double-digit plateau with 10.

Albert Gallatin scored on 17 field goals and shot 2-of-7 from the foul line, compared to Latrobe, which netted 35 field goals and was 6-of-10 from the line.

The Colonials (2-12) look to put one in the win column Tuesday at home against Franklin Regional.

Carmichaels 41, West Greene 25 – Jeremy Ganocy tossed in 20 points to lead the Mikes to a Section 2-A win over the Pioneers.

Aaron Gifford and Cook lead the Pioneers with 11 points apiece.

Avella 66, Frazier 54 – Nate Klem lit up the scoreboard with 24 points as Avella downed host Frazier in a Section 3-A showdown.

The Eagles put up impressive numbers with 20 field goals and a 23-of-33 performance from the charity stripe.

A trio of Commodores scored in double figures, highlighted with Derek Miller’s 15, followed by Frank Bartolomucci’s 13 and David Smith’s 10.

Bartolomucci and Smith both posted double-doubles with 24 and 12 rebounds respectively.

Frazier scored on 19 field goals, and netted 15-of-24 foul shots.

The Commodores (1-13) are looking to pick up a win at home on Monday against Carmichaels.

Burgettstown 70, Waynesburg Central 34 – Brenden Bongioni and Bryan Pavan tossed in 16 points a piece, en route to an easy Section 5-AA win over host Waynesburg Central.

Derek Goetz and Sean Tunno also scored in double figures, each with 13 points. Tunno led Burgettstown with three of its five 3-pointers.

The Blue Devils scored on 30 field goals and were 5-of-10 from the foul line, compared to 15 field goals and 3-of-10 from the line.

John Simmott led the Raiders with 13 points.

Waynesburg visits Charleroi on Tuesday.

Hockey

Connellsville 7, Ferndale 5 – Joe Bucci recorded a hat trick, all of which were assisted by Eric Bogden, as Connellsville defeated host Ferndale in high school hockey action Thursday.

Bucci and Bogden kicked things off for the Falcons at the 14:18 mark in the first period and then again at 5:03.

Teammate Rich Wicker also found the back of the net at 1:05 in the first as well as Brad Halfin with just 34 ticks remaining.

Bogden scored his first of two goals at the 9:02 mark in the second period on the assist from Bucci.

Ferndale’s Jordan Jaco caught fire in the third period with two quick goals just 15 seconds apart.

Bucci and Bogden teamed for one last time with 12:41 on the clock in the third period, while Bogden scored his second goal at 5:26 in the final period.

Zach Bradshaw posted 13 saves in at goal for Connellsville.

Greater Johnstown is next up on the Falcon schedule Monday at 7:20 p.m.
