Means sparks Bud Murphy’s in 10-2 FCBL victory

By the Herald-Standard Richie Means ripped four singles and drove in four runs, as Bud Murphy’s downed Phil’s Tire, 10-2, in Fayette County League action Monday.

Teammates Nathan White and Jared Early each doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs, while Shane Tonkavitch added three singles to the mix.

Winning pitcher J.C. Myers (3-2) went the distance with three strikeouts and two walks with two runs (none earned).

Buck Cherry worked six innings with 13 hits, two walks and one strikeout in the losing effort. Shane Molenaux doubled and singled for Phil’s Tire.

Bud Murphy’s is back in action today when the Cokers host Blue Mountain.

Blue Mountain 19, Potter’s Clubhouse 1 – Matt Bianco drilled a solo home run in the fifth inning to pace Blue Mountain past Potter’s Clubhouse in County League play.

Ten different hitters had at least one hit for Blue Mountain, as part of a 15-hit extravaganza, compared to just five from Potter’s.

Zack Solly had two doubles for Blue Mountain, while Charlie Humes added one. Perry Cunningham held up his end of the bargain on the mound with five innings, five strikeouts and no walks for the win on the mound. Ron Nopwasky came on in relief in the sixth inning, when the game was called due to darkness.

Mike Dvorchak went on record with the loss. Randy Bradey singled twice.

Mill Run 1, California 0 – Mill Run needed just one run on seven hits to blank California in a County League contest.

Scoreless through five innings, Jim Warrick singled to lead off the top of the sixth inning. Teammate John Warrick bunted him to second followed by a Jeff Kooser single.

Bobby Fulton ripped an infield single, then Chad Shroyer stepped to the plate, slapped a base hit to score Jim Warrick.

Bill Bendis fanned seven California batters and walked three for the win, while Aaron Brest went six innings, struck out three and walked four in the losing effort.

Mill Run hosts Bud Murphy’s Wednesday.
