High Strung Racing edges Mill Run, 8-6

Bill Rouse’s walk-off home run with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted High Strung Racing to a 9-8 Fayette County Baseball League victory over visiting Mill Run. Mill Run tied the game in the top of the seventh with two runs after High Strung Racing rallied with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for an 8-6 lead.

The visitors started strong with four runs in its first at-bat, and held a 5-3 lead after two innings.

High Strung Racing drew to within a run in the bottom of the fourth inning, only to have Mill Run counter with a single run in the top of the fifth.

Jim Kubina (1-0) got the final out in the top of the seventh to pick up the win.

Baseballs were flying out of the park with solo home runs by Mill Run’s Dave Sumner (in top of the second) and High Strung Racing’s Stephen Herman (3rd inning), Jeremy Thomas (4th), and Scott Van Sickle (6th).

Rouse added a double and finished with two RBIs. High Strung Racing’s Drew Denham, Herman and Jim Cales all had two hits.

Jeff Kooser led Mill Run with two hits and two RBIs. Nick Onesko and Sumner also had two hits.

Mill Run (3-4) hosts California tonight in a makeup game. High Strung Racing (4-0-1) plays on the road tonight against Phil’s Tire. The two teams will play a makeup game on Friday.
