Blue Mountain in County win over California
Blue Mountain scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and Zach Jeney made the lead stand for a 3-1 Fayette County Baseball League victory Tuesday over visiting California. The game was scoreless through 3½ innings when Zach Solly opened the bottom of the fourth with a single. Jeff Thompson walked, and both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Ron Nopwasky’s two-out ground ball was mishandled, allowing Solly and Thompson to score and Nopwasky to second.
Jono Menhart capped the inning with a double that scored Nopwasky.
California scored its lone run in the top of the sixth.
Jeney improved to 4-0, scattering three hits with 11 strikeouts and three walks.
Brian Harowicz went four innings for California, striking out four and walking three. California pitchers allowed four hits.
Blue Mountain (7-1-1) travels to Bud Murphy’s on Thursday and will play a make-up doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Phil’s Tire. California heads to Mill Run Friday night.
