Carmichaels fell behind early, made a strong comeback, but couldn’t sustain the momentum in a 35-14 loss at Chartiers-Houston Friday night in exhibition football action. Buccaneers quarterback Brad Banas scored on runs of 33 and 1 yard and passed for a 28-yard touchdown to De’Juan Davis to put C-H ahead, 21-0, with 1:57 left in the second quarter when the Mikes made a charge.
Carmichaels (0-2) got on the board when quarterback Jonathan Krall passed to Josh Greene for a 51-yard touchdown 1:01 before intermission and Krall passed to Bill Hyatt for a two-point conversion to make it 21-8. The same touchdown combination struck again, this time from 26 yards out 25 second before halftime to make it 21-14 at the break.
After a scoreless third quarter, Chartiers-Houston (2-0) got another touchdown from Banas, this one on a 22-yard run before Ryan Scott added a 9-yard touchdown run.
Banas led all rushers with 196 yards on 27 carries and three touchdowns. Krall finished with 93 yards passing and two touchdowns, but threw four interceptions.
Ringgold 34, Albert Gallatin 6 – Simon Bekavac ran for 161 yards and scored three touchdowns to help the Rams hand Albert Gallatin its first loss of the season.
Quarterback Shane Mountain completed nine of 14 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown as Ringgold improved to 2-0 on the season.
Albert Gallatin got 102 rushing yards and its only score from Jeremiah Karpency.
Jefferson-Morgan 42, Avella 13 – Chris Faddas and Nathan Elkins scored two touchdowns each as the Rockets made easy work of Avella. Jake Sigley and Hans Lubich also scored touchdowns as Jefferson-Morgan improved to 2-0 at the expense of 0-2 Avella.
Beth-Center 28, Burgettstown 0 – Jeff Tarley ran for 124 yards on 16 carries and scored the game’s first points on a 60-yard run as the Bulldogs leveled their record at 1-1 over winless Burgettstown.
Deshan Brown scored on a 26-yard run and Josh Lockett scored on an interception return (one of his two interceptions) and on a 4-yard run to cap Beth-Center’s scoring.
Fort Cherry 54, West Greene 0 – Fort Cherry scored 32 points in the first quarter and never looked back in this exhibition win.
