Vulcans fall to Bloomsburg
Kevin McCabe was 11 of 25 for 153 yards and a touchdown for the Vulcans, who fell to 1-1 after defeating West Chester last week. Bloomsburg’s quarterback Dan Latorre was only 1 of 6 through the air for eight yards along with being intercepted once, but he managed to run for a 49-yard scored and had 67 yards on the ground.
Senior tailback Daine Williams paced the Vulcans with 90 yards on 17 attempts. Windell Brown finished with 73 yards on six carries, including a 38-yard touchdown scamper.
Marcel Pestano caught three passes for 56 yards, and also had a 49-yard touchdown reception.
The No. 18-ranked Huskies jumped out to a 14-0 lead at halftime on touchdowns by Stefan Adams and Latorre before the Vulcans came back to tie the game at 14 with touchdowns by Pestano and Brown.
Boomsburg came back with a nine-play 56-yard drive that was capped off by a Jon Koenig field goal at 1:05 of the third quarter.
Bloomsburg tacked on another touchdown when Oscar Rivera intercepted a McCabe pass and took it 52 yards to the house for a touchdown and a 24-14 Huskies lead.
Derek Fiorenza nailed a 23-yard field goal for California to narrow the gap to 24-17, but the win belonged to Bloomsburg.
Bloomsburg piled up 325 yards rushing.
