Williams gains 140 yards in Vulcans’ win
The Vulcans opened up the scoring at 12:07 of the first quarter when Daine Williams plunged in from one-yard out. The Fighting Scots responded with a field goal, but Windell Brown’s four-yard run put California up 14-3. Brown only had 14 yards but scored two touchdowns.
Marcel Pestano caught a 17-yard pass from Kevin McCabe and took it to the house at 14:54 of the second quarter and the Vulcans had a sizeable 21-3 lead. However, the Scots came back with Rich Cerro scoring on two touchdown passes from Trevor Harris and California’s lead shrunk to 21-17.
Pestano caught five passes for 96 yards and one touchdown. McCabe was 18 of 31 for 274 yards and two touchdowns.
Edinboro (0-1, 3-1) took the lead 24-21 on a 38-yard hookup from Harris to Denayne Dixon, but the Vulcans came right back with a A.J. Jackson three-yard pass from McCabe at 8:12 of the third.
Harris called his own number on a 27-yard touchdown run and Edinboro had a 31-28 lead.
The Vulcans went on a four-play 43-yard drive that was capped off by Brown from four yards out at 4:54 and the visitors had their third win of the season and first in PSAC action.w2
