Barnhart becomes PGA Master Professional
Laurel Highlands graduate Tom Barnhart III successfully completed the requirements to become a PGA Master Professional in Golf Operations on June 18. Barnhart is one of three in the state of Ohio. Master Professional is the highest level a PGA member can attain. The program was developed in 1969 to recognize PGA members who make a significant effort to improve themselves and their operations. Barnhart presented and defended his final dissertation at the PGA Educational Center located at Port St. Lucie, Fla., in front of a panel of other Master Professionals.
Barnhart, the son of Tom and Monteen Barnhart of Hopwood, is in his first season as the General Manager/Director of Golf at Shaker Run Golf Club in Ohio. Barnhart and his wife Amanda had their first child, Thomas IV, in March.
A Penn State University graduate, Barnhart won the WPIAL individual golf championship at Latrobe Country Club and helped the Mustangs win the WPIAL team championship. Barnhart is also a past winner of the Fayette County Open championship.
