Vulcans win third straight over rival IUP

California (Pa.) defeated Indiana (Pa.) for the third straight time and the fourth time in the past five meetings Saturday behind Josh Portis’ four touchdown passes for a 41-28 PSAC-West road victory. The Vulcans improve to 3-0 in the conference and 4-2 overall, while the Crimson Hawks slip to 0-3 in the PSAC-West and 3-3 overall.

Portis had a pair of touchdown passes in the first quarter, a 7-yard effort to Terrance Moore at 8:23 and a 67-yard bomb to Moore at 6:12. He threw a 24-yarder to AJ Jackson with 1:24 remaining in the first half for his third scoring pass, and found Jackson open for a 34-yard touchdown pass with 4:41 left in the third quarter.

The receiving corps even got into the act when Moore hit Jackson for a 32-yard touchdown pass with 8:22 remaining in the game.

The Vulcans’ Mark Domonkos made a pair of field goals, hitting from 37 and 34 yards.

Portis completed only 9-of-24 attempts, but did so for 197 yards and four touchdowns. Jackson led all receivers with five receptions for 102 yards and three touchdowns.
