PAT leads Frazier over Burgettstown, 21-20

Despite weather that wasn’t conducive to kicking, an extra point provided the winning point in Frazier’s 21-20 overtime victory over Blackhills Conference opponent Burgettstown Friday. Chase Kirmeyer rushed for 110 yards on 32 carries and Jimmy Kline ran for 119 yards on 16 carries, but Burgettstown (3-3, 2-2) rallied in the fourth quarter with Dillon Bongiorni’s 11-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Todd.

Zach Schilinsky scored on a touchdown pass from Bongiorni in overtime, but the kick failed.

Frazier (3-3, 2-2) evened the score when Kirmeyer plunged in from a yard out. Kyle Rodriquez made the PAT to give the Commodores the win.

Charleroi 14, Waynesburg Central 7 – Kyle Shannon scored on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Tommy Thorpe with a minute left in regulation to lift Charleroi to an Interstate Conference win over visiting Waynesburg.

Waynesburg (1-5, 1-5) led 7-0 at the half behind John Sinnott’s 14-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Sinnott finished with 44 yards.

Quentin Briggs led Charleroi (5-1, 5-1) with 159 yards on 32 carries.

Penn State Fayette, the Eberly Campus – Penn State Fayette competed against Penn State Lehigh Valley in Allentown, Pa.

In the women’s 5K race, Laurel Highlands graduate Jordyn Hartsek finished in sixth with a time of 22:08. Uniontown products Stacey Lloyd came in eighth with a time of 22:49 and Lauren Flannigen finished 23rd and crossed the finish line in 31:29.

Andy Stepanik finished the men’s 8K race in 28th place with a time of 35:59, and Belle Vernon graduate Matt Lazar came in 29th at 36:03. Bill Boger, a Laurel Highlands product crossed the line in 36:56 and came in 36th.

Washington & Jefferson 3, Waynesburg 1 – Mike Pappas scored his first collegiate hat trick to give the Presidents their seventh straight win.

Waynesburg (1-13, 0-2) held a 16-13 advantage in shots on goal and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.

Papas sealed the win in the final minute on a penalty kick after Nick Munnell brought Waynesburg to within a goal.

Washington & Jefferson 2, Waynesburg 1 – Dawn Murphy scored in the 79th minute to lift Washington & Jefferson to a win on Senior Day.

Waynesburg (4-8, 0-2) opened the scoring when Sarah Spicuzza beat goalkeeper Stephanie Saussol in the fourth minute.

The Presidents (5-5-2, 2-1) responded in the eighth minute with a goal from Molly Macioce. Spencer Ahrenholtz assisted on the goal.

Katrina Kelly made eight saves for the Yellow Jackets (4-8, 0-2).
