Pittsburgh, NFL Players Down With Injuries

The off season has not been kind to players this season. Not only was there an infamous holdout, but players are now getting injured because of it.
Currently, 119 NFL players are down with injuries. The regular season has yet to begin and already players are going down with injuries ranging from minor pulls and sprains all the way up to severe injuries such as ruptured Achilles’ tendons.
So far, ten players have suffered ruptured Achilles’ tendons. That number is extremely high and can be expected to climb as the preseason games and eventual regular season games begin.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are not immune to the injury “bug”. Four Steelers are currently down with injuries.
Receiver Mike Wallace is suffering from a groin injury but he should be ready to go for today’s preseason game against the Washington Redskins.
Another receiver, Emmanuel Sanders, is doubtful for that game with a foot injury. He is healing from his surgery on his right foot that he injured in the Super Bowl. Sanders is expected to be back in time for the end of the preseason.
Safety and fan favorite Troy Polamalu has been recovering from his Achilles’ injury and is expected to get light work in the preseason game if he plays at all.
Rookie running back Baron Batch has suffered an ACL tear and will miss a lot of time.
Multiple offensive linemen are down with minor injuries but they are not serious. Other players, including James Harrison and Arnez Battle are suffering from minor lingering injuries. Again, none of those are serious.
While some minor injuries are to be expected in camp and the preseason, this year the numbers seem to be on the rise.
