Berkstresser, Alexander lead Rockets past Beth-Center

Zach Berkstresser and Gillian Alexander both broke 40 Thursday afternoon, and Alex Rush shot 40 to lead Jefferson-Morgan to a 206-232 Division II, Section 8 win over Beth-Center at Carmichaels Golf Club.

Cameron Roberts carded a 44 and Brandon Faeita added a 45 for the Rockets (2-0, 2-0).

Taylor Dingle paced the Bulldogs (0-1) with a 41. Tyler Sabatula shot a 44, as Evan Smith and Tyler Kuntz each carded 46. Max Gustovich added a 55.

Carmichaels 224, Brownsville 270 — Brandon Wamsley shot a 1-over 38 to lead the Mikes to a Division II, Section 8 victory over the Falcons at Carmichaels Golf Club.

Justin Newman finished with a 40 for Carmichaels (1-0, 1-1), and Brandon Wolfe shot a 44. Jordan Bogucki (50) and Tristan Santella (52) rounded out the scoring.

Derek Lent was the low man for the Falcons with a 47.

Brownsville slips to 0-2 in the section as well as overall.

Mount Pleasant 212, Albert Gallatin 223 — Mount Pleasant came out on top in a battle of unbeaten Division I, Section 2 teams at Duck Hollow Golf Club.

Zac Heide paced the Vikings (3-0, 3-0) with a 39 and Ryan Hudec added a 41. Brandon Springer carded a 42 as Justin Dent shot a 44. Andy Yoder had a 46.

Pat McDonough led the Colonials (2-1, 2-1) by shooting a 39, as Brandon Sutton had a 43. Ben Rozzi carded a 46. Cullen Hoone was one stroke back at 47 and Nick Myers carded a 48.

Elizabeth-Forward 196, Laurel Highlands 213 — Three players shot under 40 on the par 35 front nine of Butler’s Golf Course as the Warriors picked up a non-section win.

Bryce Plant and Jeremy Moller each shot 38 as Eric Danko had a 39. Steve Sawczak carded a 40 and Troy Maley came in with a 41 for Elizabeth-Forward.

Harison Laskey led the Mustangs (1-2, 1-1) with a 41. Rich David and Jeremy Guzy each shot 42, and Kelsey Soom and Nick Ezzi each carded 44.

Southmoreland 220, Uniontown 226 — The Red Raiders’ Luke Wallace was medalist at Timber Ridge Golf Course with a 3-over 39, but the Scotties had all five golfers come in under 46 for a non-section home victory.

Zack Black and Nick Wells shared scoring honors for Southmoreland, both finishing with 6-over 42. Austin Keller and Brandon Yuhas finished with 45, and Aaron Vanfleet closed the scoring with a 46.

Southmoreland improves to 1-1 overall. Uniontown slips to 0-2 and will be on the road Monday at Norvelt Golf Club to face Mount Pleasant.
