LH golfers slip past Belle Vernon, 200-206
Belle Vernon’s Kirby Manown was medalist, shooting even-par 36, but visiting Laurel Highlands came away with a 200-206 Division I, Section 2 victory Monday at Willowbrook Golf Course.
Harison Laskey and Richard David shared scoring honors for the Mustangs with a 1-over 37. Jeremy Guzy shot a 40, and Ben Cole and Nick Ezzi both finished with 43.
Ben Wolfe finished with a 39 for the Leopards. Patrick Wilson (41), Brad Antal (44), and Chase Foglia (46) closed out the scoring rounds for Belle Vernon.
Belle Vernon (1-2, 1-2) is on the road Thursday, traveling to Duck Hollow Golf Club to face Albert Gallatin.
Mount Pleasant 205, Uniontown 226 — The Vikings’ Justin Dent led the way with a 2-over 38 in a Division I, Section 2 victory over the visiting Red Raiders at Norvelt Golf Course.
Zac Heide shot a 40 for Mount Pleasant (4-0, 4-0), and Andy Yoder and Ryan Hudec both carded 41. Brandon Springer closed the scoring with a 45.
Zack Nelson was low man for Uniontown (0-2, 0-3) with a 4-over 40. Luke Wallace shot a 44, and Chris Kovach finished with a 45. Josh Nelson (46) and John Voyten (51) also figured into the scoring.
Albert Gallatin 248, Connellsville 255 — The Colonials’ Ben Rozzi and Pat McDonough both shot 9-over 43 at Pleasant Valley Country Club to lead the visitors to a Division I, Section 2 win against the Falcons.
Charlie Depp (50), Brandon Sutton (55), and Cullen Hoone (57) also counted in the final score for Albert Gallatin.
Tyler McFadden shot a 45 for Connellsville. Jonathan Grinko finished with a 49, and Gage Falo shot a 52. Colt Miller had a 54 and Mike McFadden shot a 55.
Connellsville (0-2, 0-2) travels to Linden Hall Golf Course this afternoon for a non-section match against Frazier. Albert Gallatin (3-1, 3-1) hosts Belle Vernon Thursday.
Frazier 220, Charleroi 231 — The Commodores remained undefeated with a Division II, Section 2 victory against the visiting Cougars at Linden Hall Golf Course.
Frazier’s Tyler Rock was medalist with a 1-over 37. Robert Gondura shot a 42, and James Novobilsky and Andrea Lash both shot 46. Josh Olbrys closed the scoring with a 49.
Gunnar Riley and Martin Matyas shared scoring honors for Charleroi (2-2, 4-2) with a 43. Brandon Konek and Nick Vaccaro both shot 45.
Frazier (2-0, 3-0) hosts Connellsville this afternoon.
Beth-Center 223, Carmichaels 236 — The Bulldogs won for the first time with a Division II, Section 8 victory over the Mikes at Carmichaels Golf Club.
Beth-Center is 1-1 in the section as well as overall. Carmichaels slips to 1-1 in the section and 1-2 overall.
Beth-Center’s Tyler Dingle was medalist with a 4-over 41. Tyler Sabatula shot a 42, and Evan Smith had a 43. Tyler Kuntz (48) and Max Gustovich (49) closed out the scoring rounds.
Brandon Wamsley was low man for Carmichaels with a 43. Jordan Bogucki shot a 44 and Brandon Wolfe had a 46. Justin Newman carded a 48. Tristan Santella closed the scoring with a 55.
