“Connellsville was well prepared for us and did a nice job. They’re big and strong. They hit the boards and did what they needed to do,” Geibel’s Ed Kroupa said. “This is just one basketball game. We try to learn something from every game. I think we got some good kids. We’ll be okay.”
The Falcons broke the game open in the third quarter controlling the inside to outscore the Gators 19-9 in the quarter to open up a 21-point lead, a 51-30 lead into the final quarter.
Connellsville head coach Dan Bosnic went with mainly his reserves as the Falcons held a tiring Gator squad to one point in the fourth.
“I felt we did a very good job of going after the basketball, but I think we missed to many easy shots around the basket. We’ve got to improve on that,” Bosnic said. “We’re still a work in progress. We’ve got a lot of games in front of us, which means a lot of hard work to improve ourselves. I’m looking forward to getting back in the gym Monday and continue the process of trying to improve every day.”
