Uniontown Legion beats Colonial 3 in playoff opener

The Fayette County American Legion Baseball League playoffs got under way Friday with Uniontown defeating Colonial 3, 13-2.

?Tyler Mayers went the distance for Uniontown in a game that had to be moved to the Colonial field at Rowes Run because rain made the Hopwood field unplayable.

The second game in the three-game set is scheduled for 1?p.m. today at Uniontown.

In the event the series is tied after that game, a tiebreaker will follow immediately after the completion of the first game.

Uniontown hammered out 14 hits Friday with Mason Fordyce’s sixth-inning grand slam being the big blast.

Bobby King and Tyler Dubovich also chipped in with solo home runs.

King went 3-for-4, and Dubovich was 2-for-3.

Noah Saxon went 2-for-3 for Colonial, including a solo home run.
