Cal runners honored
?California University of Pennsylvania junior Tim Lahmers and sophomore Erin Kling were recently named to the men’s and women’s Capital One Academic All-District II Track & Field/Cross Country Second-Teams by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
During the fall Lahmers competed in four cross country races and was among the team’s top five runners in three races while finishing second on the team at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships.
At the 39th-annual Cal U Invitational, Lahmers helped the Vulcans win the title with a career-best second finish.
In the spring, he qualified for the PSAC Outdoor Championships in the 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs.
Academically, Lamers holds a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average with a dual major in earth science and mathematics.
Kling set the current school records in the 5K and 3K at the PSAC Championships with times of 18:26.74 and 10:40.41, while also competing in the 10K.
In the classroom, she has a 4.00 grade-point average while pursuing a degree in biology.
Golf
Ace for Dvorchak
Dave Dvorchak, from Upper Middletown, scored a hole-in-one May 29 at the Springdale Golf Course.
Dvorchak used a pitching wedge to record the ace to record the fourth of his career, on the 130-yard No. 14 hole.
Chuck Latsnic, Bob Burket and Ron Ferlin witnessed the event.
