Golf
PSAC honors Cal’s Luke
California University of Pa.’s Dianne Luke was named the PSAC Women’s Golfer of the Year, and Vulcans coach Merrilyn Gibbs was selected as the PSAC Coach of the Year.
Luke, a junior from Sarawak, Malaysia, led the conference with a 76.0 stroke average. She finished second at the NCAA regionals and was sixth in the NCAA Championships. Gibbs was the conference coach for the second time in the past three seasons.
Jenna Rothermel, a junior from Danville, Pa., joined Luke on the first team, while Lorena Aranda, a sophomore from Trujillo, Peru, and Maria Lopez, a sophomore from Bogota, Columbia, were named to the second team.
Rantovich cards ace
Roger Rantovich, of Uniontown, scored the 14th ace of his career on June 10 at Springdale Golf Course. Rantovich used a 5-hybrid to ace No. 6, a 150-yard par-3. Chuck Latsnic and Mike Dvorchak witnessed the shot.
Softball
Fayette players earn awards
Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus junior Shannon Ardabell earned USCAA Academic All-America honors, an award for student-athletes with a GPA of 3.5 or above. Ardabell played in 17 games for the Lady Roaring Lions with 11 RBI.
Sophomore Kasey Ruble was named to the PSUAC first-team after leading the Lady Roaring Lions with a .429 batting average, .683 slugging percentage, three home runs, 27 hits, seven doubles, 26 runs scored, 19 stolen bases and 12 RBI.
Sophomore Sarah Swaney and freshman Jill Guthrie were named to the second team.

Pato signs with Point Park
