PSAC-West honors Lia

California University of Pa. freshman Shelby Lia was named the PSAC-West Softball Player of the Week after she helped the Vulcans go 5-2 on their spring break trip.

Lia, a second baseman, batted .500 (13-for-26) with eight runs scored, four doubles, two home runs and 11 RBIs. She had a slugging percentage of .885 and was 2-for-2 in stolen bases. Lia had a strong performance in a 9-0 win over Mount Olive with two home runs and six RBIs.

Teagarden top player

California University of Pa. senior Casey Teagarden was named the PSAC-West Baseball Player of the Week as the Vulcans finished the period with a 3-0 record at the Savannah Invitational.

The shortstop batted .500 (6-for-12) and finished with in a team-high 10 RBIs. The Hempfield graduate scored four runs with an .833 slugging percentage in a doubleheader sweep of West Liberty State. Teagarden went 4-for-5 with a double, three RBIs, two runs and three steals in the second game.

Teagarden also belted his first career grand slam in the southern swing.
