The Rock sweep Vulcans

By The 1 min read

Slippery Rock slid past California (Pa.) twice Sunday, 3-2 and 2-1, to sweep a PSAC-West doubleheader.

California (11-8, 1-3) held on in the seventh until a wild pitch in the bottom of the inning allowed the game-winning run to score for Slippery Rock (10-8, 3-1).

Sean Welsh (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing three earned runs and striking out eight in 6.2 innings. California took one-run leads twice only to have The Rock even the score each time.

Ryan Oglesby (3-0) earned the win for Slippery Rock.

Kyle Thomas (0-3) took the loss in the second game, allowing two runs on five hits with two walks in five innings.

The Rock jumped out to a 2-0 lead in first and held on as the Vulcans scored a run in the fifth.

Kyle Bowser led the Vulcan offense, going 2-for-3.

Carmichaels graduate Joby Lapkowicz (1-2) pitched five innings for the win and John Kovalik recorded the save.
