Connellsville nips Gators, 237-244
Three scores in the 40s allowed Connellsville to sneak past rival Geibel Catholic, 237-244, Monday in non-section play at Pleasant Valley Country Club.
Tyler McFadden paced the Falcons (1-6, 0-5), shooting an 8-over 42. Ryan Burkholder carded a 44 and Jonathan Grinko added a 45. Colt Miller and Justin Sparger each shot 53.
Ibrahim Shaktih carded a 40 to lead the Gators (0-7, 0-6). Ryan Robson shot a 41 and Patrick Herbert added a 42. Britt Machling (63) and Matt Emerson (58) rounded out the scoring.
Bentworth 197, Carmichaels 224 – Kyle Kubobich shot a 1-under par 36 at Carmichaels Golf Course to lead the Bearcats to a non-section win.
Garrett Damich added another sub-40 score with a 37, as Chris Blackburn shot 40 for Bentworth (8-1, 5-0). Tyler Delval carded a 41 and Tyler Kurutz (43) finalized the scoring.
Brandon Wamsley led the Mikes (1-6, 1-3) with a 39. Brandon Wolfe and Jordan Boguki each carded 42. Justin Newman (47) and Tristan Santella (54) rounded out the scoring.
Frazier 205, Brownsville 295 – Tyler Rock shot 36 at Linden Hall for an even-par round in non-section play.
Robert Gondura had a 39. Josh Olbrys (45), Hunter Clay (44) and Andrea Lash (41) finished the scoring for the Commodores (6-1, 3-1).
Brad Britvich (51) led Brownsville.
Girls volleyball
West Greene 3, Clay Battelle (W.Va.) 1 – Megan Reeves had 23 assists and Macy McMillan had 13 service points to lead West Greene to a non-section win against a border rival.
West Greene (3-0, 1-0) won by scores of 24-26, 25-22, 25-22 and 25-17. Senior Allyssa Raling (4 kills) and sophomore Katie Finnegan (11 digs) also powered the Pioneer cause. West Greene travels to Frazier today.
