Miley is King of the Knob
MARKLEYSBURG — Jared Miley, of South Park, won his first-ever checkered flag Saturday night at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex.
Miley’s win came in the 14th running of the “King of the Knob” for Super Late Models.
The 51-lap event was co-sanctioned by the UFo and Three State Flyers Series and paid the winner $5,000.
In other action Rick Strickler (Krause Electric FASTRAK Late Models), Jim Bendishaw, Jr. (TC Race Car Parts Street Stocks), Marty Spade, Jr. (Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers) and Wes McDaniels (Roadrunners) all scored feature wins.
Jared Hawkins won the Aug. 27 make-up feature for the American Racer Tire Super Late Models.
Uniontown’s Jimmy Bendishaw, Jr. sat in victory lane for the fifth time this season in the 15-lap TC Race Car Parts Street Stock main event. Bendishaw trailed leader Bob Neratka for 11 laps before making the winning move. Todd Dennis followed into second one lap later but could not muster the extra power to pass Bendishaw.
Marty Spade, Jr. gave the Ford fans some excitement in winning his sixth Ft. Necessity Garage 12-lap feature. Spade had to pass leader JT Baird on lap six before earning the win.
The 2011 track champions were also crowned Saturday night. Congratulations to Scott Rhodes in earning his first Roaring Knob track championship in the American Racer Tire Super Late Models. Rhodes won three features on his way to securing the crown.
John Over won his second straight Krause Electric FASTRAK Late Model championship. Over won two A-Mains this year.
Dennis racked up eight feature wins on his way to earning another point title in the TC Race Car Parts Street Stocks, Kenny Burkholder won his second FT. Necessity Garage point championship while earning a season best six feature wins and Steve Settle earned also earned six checkers in taking the first-ever point championship crowned at Roaring Knob for the 4 Cylinder Roadrunners.
Two weeka ago Bruce Dreistadt won a career first championship in the AMRA Modifieds.
