Lady Pioneers shut out Hundred (W.Va.), 3-0

West Greene took a break from Section 5-A action Monday night, sweeping past Hundred (W.Va.), 3-0, in a non-section girls volleyball match.

The Lady Pioneers won by the scores 25-10, 25-10, 25-20.

Macy McMillen led the with way with 18 service points. Megan Reeves finished with 17 assists, and Madison Raber had five kills.

West Greene (4-2) travels to California tonight for a Section 5-A match.

Carmichaels 3, Beth-Center 0 — The Lady Mikes defeated the visiting Lady Bulldogs in straight sets for a non-section victory.

Carmichaels won by the scores 25-12, 25-14, 25-5.

Sarah Hathaway led the Lady Mikes with 23 service points. Rachael Hathaway added 12 service points. Alex Ferek finished with six kills, and Amanda Brown and Cameron Grimes had four kills apiece.

Carmichaels (3-2) hosts Jefferson-Morgan tonight in a Section 5-A match.

Trinity (W.Va.) 3, Mapletown 0 — The Lady Maples dropped a non-section match to Trinity, losing by the scores, 25-16, 27-25, 25-12.

Molly Namet finished with 11 digs for Mapletown. Shailyn Ridgley had four aces and three digs. Kristi Guritza had four assists, two aces and one dig, and Andrya Durr finished with three kills.

Mapletown (2-5, 0-3) returns to Section 5-A action tonight on the road at Geibel Catholic.

Chartiers-Houston 3, Jefferson-Morgan 0 — The Lady Rockets hosted Chartiers-Houston in a non-section match, losing at home in straight sets, 25-21, 25-17, 25-17.

Kaitlyn Coles led Jefferson-Morgan (3-2) with seven service points, including three aces. Ashley Faddis finished with five service points and Emily Hillsman added three service points. Christina Schant had five kills and Julie Gialoni contributed three digs.

Uniontown 3, Southmoreland 0 — The Lady Raiders hosted the Lady Scots in non-section action and remained undefeated, winning in straight sets, 25-15, 29-27, 25-15.

Uniontown’s Tori Campbell had a well-rounded effort with eight kills and seven aces. Taylor Campbell finished with nine kills, and Taylee Swaney added 15 assists.

Uniontown (5-0) plays a Section 7-AA match tonight at Brownsville.

California 3, Avella 0 — The Lady Trojans went on the road for a non-section victory over the Lady Eagles, winning in straight sets, 25-17, 25-14, 25-18.

California (1-2, 0-2) hosts West Greene tonight in a Section 5-A match.

Women’s volleyball

Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus 3, La Roche 0 — The Lady Roaring Lions had three tough sets with the visiting Red Hawks, but won the non-conference match by scores of 25-20, 26-24, 25-21.

Leah Ambrosini led the attack with 13 kills. Katie Sleasman distributed 17 assists and Emily Kontor finished with 10 assists. Victoria Kearns had a strong defensive night with 11 digs.

The Lady Roaring Lions (8-3, 1-0) host Penn State-Beaver Thursday night.

Women’s tennis

Oberlin Invitational — California (Pa.) went a combined 35-4 in singles and doubles action in the three-day tournament in Ohio.

Ramona Czakon, Livia Pap, Jad Pondicas, Martina Rubesova and Anastassiya Zherdeva all went 3-0 in singles play. Jolien Borrenberghs, Annabel Pieschl and Franziska Steinhardt all were 2-1 in singles. Borrenberghs and Pap won four doubles matches. The doubles teams of Pieschel and Pondicas and Czakon and Zherdeva won three matches.
