Southmoreland’s Asa Costelnock continues to hold the lead in the HeraldStandard.com Touchdown Club race, but it’s getting awfully crowded right behind him in the standings, heading into the fourth week of high school football.

Costelnock scored his sixth touchdown of the season last Friday and his 36 points put him six points ahead of four players tied for second place.

Connellsville’s Zachary Cooper scored two touchdowns last week and Frazier’s Kyle Rodriguez got a touchdown and three extra point kicks to give each player 30 points on the season. Joining them are Beth-Center’s Cody Durant and Waynesburg Central’s Nick Zupper, who scored a touchdown each last week.

Four players also are tied for sixth place with four touchdowns and 30 points each.

Belle Vernon’s Ian Dobbins and Frazier’s Charles Manack scored two touchdowns last week to catch Beth-Center’s Deshan Brown and California’s Dylan Hunter, who added single scores last week.

Tre Hall of Brownsville scored a touchdown and added a two-point conversion to grab 10th place with 22 total points scored this season.

Beth-Center’s Sal Faieta and Frazier’s Jamie Fell are tied for 11th with 20 points each and five players — LH’s Danzel Beasley, Belle Vernon’s Jake Burritt, California’s Skyler Dickinson, Carmichaels’ Brennan McMinn and Beth-Center’s Jake Sofran — are tied for 13th with three touchdowns and 18 points.
