Shashura claims third WPIAL title
Brownsville’s Sarah Shashura won the WPIAL Class AA tennis title Friday, defeating top-seeded Eva Sung of Sewickley Academy.
Although it was her third title, it was her second in the girls’ division. She won the title as a freshman and as a sophomore claimed the boys AA crown while playing at California.
She won in three sets, losing the first 1-6, including losses in seven of the first eight games until rebounding with wins of 6-4 and 6-2 in the remaining sets.
Shasura now has her sights set on the PIAA singles tournament, set for Nov. 4-5 at Hershey Raquet Club.
