Waynesburg hires Pincavitch as baseball coach

By Heraldstandard.Com 1 min read

Waynesburg Central hired Mapletown graduate Kevin Pincavitch as its new baseball coach on Tuesday.

Pincavitch takes over for the highly successful Steve Coss, who stepped down after leading the Raiders on an 18-game winning streak on their way to an appearance in the WPIAL Class AA championship game this past season.

Coss coached Waynesburg for three years.

The 41-year-old Pincavitch was a stand-out pitcher for the Maples and California University of Pa. before being signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1992 and pitched in their organization until 1997. He led the minor leagues with a 1.66 ERA while pitching in Class A in 1995.

Pincavitch has been an assistant coach in baseball and softball at Mapletown, and also served as pitching coach for the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League in 2005.
