Mapletown wrestlers outlast Beth-Center, 40-29

The Maples received four forfeits and Zach Brown and Damien Riley won by falls to lead Mapletown to a 40-29 Section 2-AA (2A) victory at Beth-Center.

Brown pinned Josh Vandivner in 5:45 to win at 285 pounds, and Riley won by fall in 3:05 at 126 over the Bulldogs’ Dexter Keys.

The Maples’ Keith Popernack won by a 16-6 major decision over Robert Work. Adam Hein (195), AJ Lewellen (220), Noah Hixon (113), and Tyler Rumble (132) all won by forfeit.

Beth-Center’s Frank Durecci won by fall in 40 seconds at 182 pounds over Kenny Rhodes, and Tony Welsh pinned Colby Kincell in 1:24 at 138 pounds. Jason Stay won by technical fall (21-5) at 145 over Dylan Rogers.

Matt Riggle (152) and Nico Brown (160) won by forfeit.

Mapletown improves to 1-0 in the section and 2-4 overall, while the Bulldogs slip to 0-1.
