Cal pair in NCAAs
California University of Pa.’s Monique Sims and Brice Myers have advanced to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 24-26 in Pueblo, Colo.
Myers advanced in the 110 high hurdles for the third-consecutive season. The senior has the third-fastest time in the country at 13.96 seconds. Myers finished second last year with a time of 14.03 seconds.
Sims is going to the national championships for the first time, earning a spot in the 100. Her school-record time of 11.85 seconds is tied for the seventeenth-fastest in the nation.
Sanner qualifies
Seton Hall University freshman Mallory Sanner qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 24-26 in Pueblo, Colo. The Uniontown graduate’s qualifying throw of 44.10 meters (145-8) is the ninth best in Division II.
Teammates Stephanie Pryor (10,000 meters) and Calsie Boyd (triple jump, high jump) also qualified for the national championships.

Waynesburg players all-PAC
Waynesburg placed five players on the All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference baseball teams, including first-team selection Brendan Scioscia.
It was the second first-team selection and third overall for Scioscia, a senior catcher who led the Yellow Jackets in batting average (.397), doubles (14), on-base percentage (.509), and walks (28).
Juniors Bobby Hartman (first base) and Kyle Sasala (shortstop), as well as seniors Nick Berdine (outfielder) and Ben Oviatt (starting pitcher), were named second team.
Softball
Vulcans’ Russell honored
California University of Pa. senior Jillian Russell was selected to the NFCA All-America third-team for the second straight season. The third baseman tied the single-season school record with 14 home runs, and was second on the team and fifth in the PSAC with a career-high .397 batting average (56-for-147). She has belted a school-record 47 career home runs and is tied for second with 170 career RBI.
