Talbots top LH behind Bianco

Anthony Bianco ran for 269 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 carries to lead Hampton to an exhibition football win over Laurel Highlands Friday night.

The Mustangs (0-4) got 108 rushing yards and their only touchdown from quarterback Raphael Cannon, who also threw for 203 yards. The Talbots improved to 3-1.

Bianco opened the scoring with a 56-yard TD run at 4:22 of the first quarter and Eddie Edwards caught a 25-yard scoring pass from Jon Nigro to extend Hampton’s lead to 14-0.

Anna Pirl booted a 28-yard field three seconds before halftime to put the Mustangs on the board, but Hampton got touchdown runs from Frank Bello (3 yards) and Bianco (85 yards) in the third quarter to move ahead 28-3.

Cannon then scored on a 1-yard run and Dontay Jacobs’ conversion run ended the scoring for LH before Bianco went in on a 16-yard run.

Ringgold 30, Uniontown 13 — Uniontown showed some signs of progress, but not enough to overcome Ringgold and its one-man wrecking crew named Demetrius Louis.

Louis ran for 266 yards on only 12 carries and scored three touchdowns and a pair of two point conversions to lead the Rams to a win over the Red Raiders in Big Nine Conference football action at Bill Power Stadium.

Ellis led Uniontown in rushing with 124 yards on 20 carries and passed for 130 more. He had a hand in both Uniontown touchdowns, throwing a 53-yard laser to Jordan Pratt 11 seconds before halftime and scoring at the end of the aforementioned 14-play scoring drive.

Uniontown will be shorthanded next week facing a road game at Elizabeth-Forward. Bru Martin and Miles Jackson were ejected and must serve a one-game suspension.

Frazier 39, West Greene 21 — Frazier scored 26 unanswered points over the final eight minutes of the first half to break a 7-7 tie and roll to a 39-21 victory over host West Greene Friday night at Kennedy Field in Rogersville.

Frazier improved to 3-1 overall and in the Tri-County South. Meanwhile, the Pioneers dropped to 1-3 both overall and in the conference.

Frazier junior quarterback Charlie Manack shined for the Commodores, tossing four touchdowns and rushing for another.

Jeanette 60, Brownsville 7 — The comment was made in the press box that Brownsville was Jeanette about ten years ago. It was a team that hit the field with a swagger and a lot of confidence, playing an uptempo, physical style of football.

Jeanette showed why they are contenders for the Interstate Conference title, taking advantage of Brownsville’s mistakes to cruise to a win.

The Jayhawks kept Brownsville pinned in their half of the field for most of the game and got two touchdowns each from Jordan Edmunds and Anthony Canady.

Bishop Canevin 39, California 14 — For California’s Trojans, it was far too little, far too late.

Trailing 39-0 to third-ranked and highly regarded Bishop Canevin Friday night at Trojans Stadium, California waited until the final 7:41 to light up the home-side of the scoreboard and fell to the Crusaders in Class A Black Hills Conference action.

After the Crusaders Jim Tersak scored his third touchdown of the night on a three-yard run, California junior wide receiver Nathan Harris returned a Bishop Canevin kickoff 90 yards for the Trojans initial score. Seven minutes and 41 seconds later, on the game’s final play, California freshman Aaron Wilson tightroped and danced his way 71 yards down the right sideline to complete the scoring.

Greensburg Central Catholic 35, Waynesburg Central 7 — Waynesburg Central came into a home game with Greensburg Central Catholic fresh off a 21-0 victory over Brownsville and was looking to make it two in a row in the Interstate Conference.

The Centurions had different plans as they scored on offense, defense and special teams on their way to a win at Raider Field.

Greensburg Central Catholic (2-2, 1-2) got its first of a handful of big plays during the opening possession of the game. With Waynesburg (1-3, 1-2) on offense, the Centurions’ Eddie Kilkeary intercepted a Colby Collins pass and returned it 54 yards for the game’s first touchdown with 8:32 still to play in the first quarter. Senior Jack Fagan knocked in his first of five extra points to put his team ahead 7-0.

Mapletown 34, Geibel Catholic 6 — Mapletown rushed for over 300 yards and picked up a victory over Geibel Catholic for their 300th win in program’s history.

The Maples (2-2, 1-2) earned their first win in Tri-County South action this season, while the Gators (0-4, 0-3) continue their unusual year with another lopsided contest.

Mapletown tailback Troy Haines rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown, while Adam Hein tallied 59 yards on eight carries for 59 yards and two scores.

Carmichaels 40, Vincentian Academy 14 — The Mikes earned a non-conference win at home, defeating Vincentian Academy.

Josh Mundell scored the first touchdown for Carmichaels on a 7-yard run. Mundell scored again at the end of the first quarter on a 36-yard run.

Colton Henry also scored twice for the Mikes, a 43-yard run in the first quarter and a 34-yard pass from Brandon Lawless in the second quarter.

West Mifflin 46, West Mifflin 6 — The Colonials had a tough time at home, losing a Big Nine Conference game against West Mifflin.

Collin Smith was responsible for Albert Gallatin’s sole touchdown, a 75-yard kickoff return in the third quarter.

The Colonials (0-4) travel to Thomas Jefferson next Friday.

Seneca Valley 64, Connellsville 14 — The Raiders were too much for the Falcons in non-section play.

Beth-Center 61, Bentworth 0 — The Bulldogs’ defense pitched a shutout in a Tri-County South matchup at Bentworth.

B-C ups its record to 4-0 in conference play and 4-0 overall. The Bearcats fall to 0-4 in conference play and overall.

Avella 26, Jefferson-Morgan 21 — The Eagles’ surprising season continues in defeating the Rockets in Tri-County South action.

Avella improves to 3-0 in TCS play and 4-0 overall. Jefferson-Morgan falls to 3-1 in conference play and 3-1 overall.

Ford City 35, Southmoreland 14 — The Scotties dropped a non-conference game at home.

Southmoreland falls to 0-3 in conference play and 0-4 overall.

Elizabeth Forward 35, Belle Vernon 6 — The Leopards dropped their third consecutive contest in Big Nine play.

Belle Vernon falls to 1-3 overall and the Warriors improve to 2-2 in conference play and overall.
