Trojans break open game in second quarter

The California boys outscored host Mapletown in the middle two quarters, 36-15, Thursday night as the Trojans returned home with a 71-44 non-section road victory.

The teams played to a 10-10 tie in the first quarter, and California (1-1) held a 25-19 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Demetri Clements led California with 15 points. Austin Wingo finished with 14, and Tray Matthews added 13.

Dereck Riggleman led the Maples (1-3) with a game-high 25 points.
