Lady Maples break winless string with 56-53 victory

The Mapletown girls put up 33 points in the first half Tuesday, and then the Lady Maples held off visiting Western Beaver, 56-53, for a non-section victory.

Mapletown (1-4) led 21-8 after the first quarter and 33-21 at the half. Western Beaver (0-7) carried the play in the second half, outscoring the Lady Maples, 33-23.

Abby Shipley scored a game-high 15 points for Mapletown, with Hannah Dingle finishing with 13.

Alena Hineman (14), Lauren Ramone (13), and Mara Shank (12) all scored in double figures for Western Beaver.

Mapletown is on the road tonight for a non-section game at Hundred (W.Va.).

 

Chartiers Valley scored all the points it needed in the first quarter as the Colts cruised to an 86-27 victory.

Chartiers Valley (2-0, 6-0) led 37-9, 64-19 and 78-23 at the quarter breaks.

Jerrad Tuite and Matty McConnell shared scoring honors for the Colts with 21 points apiece.

Waynesburg slips to 0-1 in Section 4-AAA and 2-3 overall.

 

Mason Long was perfect to lead Waynesburg Central to a 791(58x)-787(46x) non-section victory over Upper St. Clair.

Long scored 100(10x), the lone shooter on the two teams with a perfect score.

Teammate Todd Nelson was nearly perfect, scoring 100(6x). Reagan Rush (99,9x), Tim Heldreth (99,8x) Austin Kiger (99,7x), Camryn Dugan (99,7x), Brittany Straight (98,6x), and Jacob Guess (97,5x) all factored in the scoring for the Raiders.

Rachel Claypool led the Panthers with a score of 100(7x). Bethany Fisher and Alex Mocs were close with at 100(6x). Lauren Boehmer (99,7x), Rachel Geffery (98,6x), Marielle Snyder (98,5x), Zach Kiemer (97,5x), and Melody Dietrich (95, 4x) also counted in the final score for Upper St. Clair.

Monday, Dec. 16

Brandon Lawless poured in 48 points, leading Carmichaels to an 80-43 non-section victory over visiting Bentworth.

Lawless made eight 3-pointers, nine field goals and 6-of-9 free throws to outscore the Bearcats by himself.

Leading 17-4 after the first quarter, the Mikes (4-0) put the game away in the middle two quarters by outscoring Bentworth, 50-28.

Tyler Aeschbacher was also in double figures for Carmichaels with 13 points.

Damon Petrola-Bakos was the lone player for Bentworth (0-3) in double digits with 19 points.

 

The Raber sisters accounted for 40 points to lead visiting West Greene to a 53-32 non-section victory at Geibel Catholic.

The Lady Pioneers (3-0) led 26-18 at the half, and then outscored the Lady Gators in the final 16 minutes, 27-14.

Alyssa Raber scored a game-high 22 points on the strength of four 3-pointers, while sister Madison finished with a double-double with 18 points and 19 rebounds.

Karly Judy led Geibel Catholic (1-2) with 20 points.

 

The Frazier girls scored 26 points in the second half, pulling away from visiting Jefferson-Morgan for a 39-29 non-section victory.

The Lady Rockets (3-2) led at halftime, 16-13.

Lauren Timko and Hannah Kline shared scoring honors for the Lady Commodores (3-1) with 11 points apiece.

Ally Bogden led Jefferson-Morgan with a game-high 13 points.

Frazier hosts Yough on Wednesday.

Friday, Dec. 13

The Lady Rockets defeated Winchester Thurston, 47-39, at Winchester Thurston in non-section play.

Nikki Venick scored a team-high 14 points in the Jefferson-Morgan victory. Erin Confortini was right behind with 13 points, followed by Kayla Yorko with 12.

Jefferson-Morgan (3-1) travels to Frazier Monday in a non-section match.
