The Lady Panthers raced out to an 18-point lead in the first quarter, and Laurel Highlands never recovered as Upper St. Clair opened the Laurel Highlands Christmas Tournament Friday afternoon with a 66-43 victory.

Upper St. Clair (6-1) led 24-6 after the first quarter, and extended its lead to 40-18 at halftime. The Lady Panthers led 52-29 after three quarters.

Rachel Mazzie scored a game-high 17 points for Upper St. Clair, while Sarah McMurtry finished with 12.

Haley Moreland led Laurel Highlands (2-6) with seven points. Kaitlyn Thurby and Taylor Large both finished with six points.
