Four local champs crowned at Tri-CADA
Four local champions were crowned in the Tri-CADA Wresting tournament Saturday at Ringgold High School.
Waynesburg Central had three champions in AC Headlee (113), Shane Piper (145) and Bo Hampson (152).
Jefferson-Morgan’s Dustin Conti earned the gold at 182.
Headlee earned a 15-0 technical fall over Beth-Center’s Zach Swarrow in 4:28.
Piper topped Chartiers-Houston’s Tanner Sutton, the top seed, 6-4, in overtime, and Hampson dropped Trinity’s Evan Sherrieb, 7-4.
Conti won a 9-7 decision in overtime over McGuffey’s Brent Blacharczyk.
The Rockets’ Brendan Howard lost a 7-4 decision to Canon-McMillan’s Brendan Price at 106 to take second. The Raiders’ Cole Rush was sixth at 106.
Waynesburg Central’s Shaun Wilson was second at 120 after losing to Canon-McMillan’s Dalton Marci, 21-6. The technical fall was stopped at 3:48.
Albert Gallatin’s Will Valentine was sixth at 120.
Waynesburg Central’s Terry Victor was fifth and Jefferson-Morgan’s Trevor Kniha was sixth at 126.
West Greene’s Wade Blackmon was third at 132.
The Rockets’ Jason Miller took second at 138. Beth-Center’s Tony Welsh was third and the Raiders’ Michael Heasley was fourth.
West Greene’s Matt Johnston took third, the Bulldogs’ Jason Stay was fourth and the Rockets’ Ryan Zalar was sixth at 145.
Beth-Center’s Matt Riggle was fifth at 152.
Jefferson-Morgan’s Bill Bowlen was third at 160.
The Colonials’ Branden Dice placed third at 170. The Pioneers’ Dalton Wildman settled for fourth.
West Greene’s Cody Jacobs took second after a 3-1 loss to Chartiers-Houston’s Garrett Vulcano at 195. The Rockets’ Anthony Patterson was fifth.
The Colonials’ Chris Hlatky was fourth at 220.
The Pioneers’ Trevin Bedilion settled for fourth at 285.
Waynesburg Central was second to Peters Township in the team standings, while Albert Gallatin was fourth.
