Connellsville swimmers sweep past East Allegheny
The Connellsville swimming team took a break from section competition Tuesday night, and returned home with a sweep of the Wildcats.
The Lady Falcons defeated their hosts, 93-41, while the Connellsville boys cruised past the Wildcats, 98-54.
The Connellsville girls swept the relays. Bayke Shreve, Leah Lilley, Alyson Urie and Rachel Barczyk won the 200 medley relay in 2:07.71. Barczyk, Sierra Emert, Lilley and Urie took the 200 freestyle relay in 1:52.24, and Barczyk, Emert, Lilley and Urie finished first in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:10.48.
Urie (200 IM, 2:44.60; 100 backstroke, 1:20.59), Kait Nedrow (diving), Brooke Robbins (200 freestyle, 2:25.54), Justine Waggel (50 freestyle, 32.52), Bethany Lonce (100 butterfly, 1:30.81), Melea Mascioli (500 freestyle, 8:29.36), and Rachel Fremd (100 breaststroke, 1:30.54) all had individual first place finishes.
Jimmy Manges, Dan Starr, Roy Starr and Shane Beneke won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:47.9, and the quartet of Jon Anderson, Petey Strauser, Brandon Pastorious and William Culver finished first in the 400 freestyle relay (5:06.22).
Beneke also won the 200 IM (2:21.92) and the 100 breaststroke (1:09.58). Roy Starr finished first in the 100 butterfly (1:10.34).
Connellsville returns to action Thursday against Hempfield.
Uniontown (girls) 91, Trinity 79; Trinity (boys) 78, Uniontown 55 — The Lady Raiders finished first in all but four events for a non-section win over the Hillers, while the home team was a little too deep for the visiting Red Raiders.
Alexandra Meadows, Sarah Novak, Elizabeth Klingensmith and Torie Miller finished first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:10.07. Christina Homer, Miller, Meadows and Klingensmith teamed up to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:55.71, and Sarah Mattis, Belle Baker, Kristin Nedley and Homer won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:06.25.
Klingensmith (200 freestyle, 2:13.35; 100 butterfly, 1:07.53) and Meadows (50 freestyle, 28.15; 500 freestyle, 6:25.48) won two individual events apiece.
James Rabon took part in all three first-place finishes for the Red Raiders. He won the 50 freestyle (24.67) and 500 freestyle (6:13.17), and joined Billy Seliga, Nate Edenfield and Nathan Hager to finish first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:47.73.
