Connellsville Legion pounds out 16 hits in 12-4 win
The Connellsville Legion squad belted out 16 hits Monday night, cruising to a 12-4 victory over visiting Uniontown.
The offense was spread around with nine Connellsville players having at least one hit.
The home team scored three runs in the bottom of the first, two scoring on Tyler Henry’s single and the other on Cameron Bernhardt’s double.
The visitors plated two runs in the top of the second inning, but Connellsville countered with four more in the bottom of the inning.
Uniontown drew close once again with two runs in the top of the third, but Connellsville put the game away with single runs in the fifth and seventh innings and three in the sixth before the game was called due to darkness in the eighth inning.
Garrett Brooks led the Connellsville attack with a triple, two singles and three runs scored. Bernhardt had a pair of doubles and three RBI. Brock Bonadio finished with two hits and three runs scored. Henry and J.R. Blocker both had two singles.
Ryan Huey (2-0) went the first 5 2/3 innings for the victory, allowing four earned runs on five hits with eight walks and one strikeout.
Mike Bochnak had a pair of singles and Tyler Dubovich added a double for Uniontown (4-2).
Luke Wallace bore the brunt of the offensive push, allowing 11 runs (seven earned) on 14 hits. He struck out one and walked one.
Connellsville (3-2) hosts Colonial 3 on Wednesday.
