Connellsville blows past Colonial 3, 18-1

Connellsville had no issues swinging the bats as it pounded out 15 hits in only five innings Wednesday night to blew past Colonial 3, 18-1, in Fayette County American Legion action.

Garrett Brooks led the way with four hits that led to three RBIs and three runs scored. Teammate Grant Wortman continued the hit parade, going 3-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs.

Mike Parlak and Cam Bernhardt each had extra-base hits in the win for Connellsville. Brock Bonadio also had a nice day at the plate, going 3-for-3.

On the mound, Connellsville’s Lucas Gida pitched all five innings, striking out five batters and only walking one to earn the victory.

Corey Lent and Shane Roebuck each had doubles in the loss for Colonial 3. Mike Jackson took the loss.

Waynesburg 8, Farmington 2 — Colt Lippencott was impressive on the mound as he struck out seven and walked just a single batter as his Waynesburg squad took care of Farmington.

Lippencott also helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for-4. Jon Coss also went 2-for-4 for Waynesburg.

Timmy Rifhel took the loss for Farmington.

Fayette County League

Carmichaels 9, Mill Run 4 — The Copperheads used the long ball to help their cause as they powered past Mill Run in Fayette County Baseball League play.

Gene Franks and Ron Nopwasky blasted home runs that accounted for a combined eight RBIs in the Copperhead victory.

Clay Roman and Joby Lapkowicz each had doubles for Carmichaels.

JayJay Paskart was strong on the hill for the win as he struck out seven batters.

Chris Keslar took the loss for Mill Run.

Belmont Inn 11, Dunbar 6 — Belmont Inn scored six runs in the top of the second inning, including Brian Sankovich’s two-run single, and Mason Fordyce pitched two scoreless innings in relief for a victory at Dunbar.

Dunbar led 3-0 after the first two innings, but the visitors stormed into the lead in the top of the third. Dunbar’s Jeramy Kopacko belted a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning.

Belmont Inn (3-1) scored a single run in the top of the fourth, and four more in the sixth.

Dunbar scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Sankovich, Eric Fudala and Steve Kezmarsky accounted for seven of Belmont Inn’s eight hits. Sankovich had a pair of singles and three RBI, Kezmarsky finished with three singles, and Fudala added two singles.

Ron Holp started and made it through five innings to improve to 2-0. He allowed all six runs with eight strikeouts and five walks. Fordyce struck out four and walked none.

Cody Ward had two singles for Dunbar (2-1), and Kopacko added a single to go along with his home run.
