Fayette topped by Marygrove in USCAA volleyball
Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, dropped a 2-0 match to Marygrove College in the USCAA National Championship Volleyball Tournament Friday.
The Roaring Lions came home with an 0-4 record and did not qualify for bracket play, but they took a set each from the first three teams they played.
Marygrove, though, took no prisoners with a 25-14, 25-22 sweep over the Roaring Lions Friday morning at the home of SUNY Canton in Canton, N.Y.
Emily Konter paced the local team with 17 assists and six digs. Sam Helmantoler had seven kills, while Janelle Cooper added 11 digs and three blocks. Fayette finished its season at 23-13.
Marygrove and Daemen College advanced to Saturday’s semifinals out of Fayette’s Pool A. Marygrove beat Lindenwood-Belleville, while Daemen beat the host Kangaroos.
Semifinals and finals will be held Saturday.
