Brownsville netters shut out Jeannette, 5-0

By The 1 min read

The Lady Falcons lost only 11 games Monday afternoon as the Brownsville girls tennis team swept past visiting Jeannette, 5-0, in Section 1-AA action.

Sari Yuhas lost just two games in winning No. 1 singles. Angie Braznok (1) and Kristie Pulla (7) completed the Brownsville singles sweep.

Gina Swetz and Julia Shumar lost just one game at No. 1 doubles, while Dolly Kromer and Casey Hawk won No. 2 doubles, 6-0, 6-0.

The Lady Falcons improve to 3-4 in the section and 4-4 overall, and still have an eye out for a playoff berth.

“We can’t lose in the second half, and someone else is going to have to lose,” said Brownsville coach Dan LoNigro.

The Lady Falcons can accomplish both of LoNigro’s assessments when they host Southmoreland on Thursday afternoon.
