West Mifflin cruises past Colonials, 56-12
James Wheeler kept running roughshod through the Big Nine Conference, this time taking it to the Albert Gallatin defense with three long touchdown runs Friday night in West Mifflin’s 56-12 win over the visiting Colonials.
Albert Gallatin kept pace with the Titans early in the game with Collin Smith scoring on a 2-yard run after Wheeler scored the lone touchdown of the first quarter on a 1-yard run.
Wheeler took over at that point, scoring on runs of 43 and 23 yards. The final touchdown of the first half came on Karlyn Garner’s 60-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Garbark.
The same duo opened the scoring in the second half on 60- and 43-yard scoring plays.
Branden Dice broke the West Mifflin scoring string with a 19-yard run in the fourth quarter, but a pair of DiAngelo Mitchell touchdowns on a 37-yard run and 66-yard punt return closed out the game.
Smith carried the ball 31 times for 172 yards. Hlatky also gained over 100 yards, carrying the ball 15 times for 105 yards.
