Lady Leps erupt for first win of season

Belle Vernon earned its first softball win of the season Friday with a 9-6 non-section win at home against Mount Pleasant.

Kaitlyn Faiola drove in two runs with a home run and two singles to lead the BVA (1-6) offense, while Sarah Simsic brought home three runs on a pair of singles. Nicole Ashcraft singled and tripled for one RBI and winning pitcher Erica Amoroso drove in a run on two singles.

Amoroso scattered five hits and pitched six innings.

Paige Hertzog homered and tripled for Mount Pleasant (2-2) and drove in two runs.

Belle Vernon returns to Section 3-AAA action Tuesday when South Park visits.
