Red Raiders brave cold, mud to beat Vikings
Mount Pleasant scored single runs in each of the first three innings, but Uniontown responded with four in the fourth to post a 4-3 Section 2-AAA baseball win Saturday at Mount Pleasant.
It was a very cleanly played game, despite what Red Raiders coach Ken Musko described as bitterly cold and soggy playing conditions. Only one error was committed in the game.
Uniontown starter Tyler Frazee worked six innings and allowed three runs on five hits. He walked four and struck out two. Zach Stashick struck out two in his inning of work to earn the save. Mount Pleasant’s Jake Adamrovich took the loss.
The (3-3) Red Raiders are 2-0 in section games, while Mount Pleasant (1-4) lost its section opener.
Stashick also brought his bat, as he doubled and singled, while Gary Fox added two singles for Uniontown. Jeremy Paul doubled and singled for the Vikings, while Tyler Mellors and Mitch Matlas also doubled.
Uniontown travels to Derry Monday and to Indiana Wednesday. The site of the Red Raiders’ Friday game with Greensburg Salem is still up in the air. If Bailey Park is ready, it will be a home game; if not, the game is at Greensburg.
