Mustangs get the better of Albert Gallatin, 207-235

The Mustangs’ Harison Laskey led the way Monday afternoon with a 2-under 33 as Laurel Highlands defeated Albert Gallatin, 207-235, for a Section 2-AAA victory.

The 207 was the lowest total of the season for Laurel Highlands, who improve to 3-1. The Colonials slip to 0-3 in the section and 1-3 overall.

Albert Gallatin’s Tanner Kutek had a solid round with a 2-over 37.

Johnathan Ek (42), Olivia Soom (43), Cole Phillis (44), and Jarrod Sutton (45) rounded out the scoring for the Mustangs.

Adam Burke (45), Alex Arnold (49), Nick Davis (52), and Tom Victor (52) also factored in the Colonials’ final score.

Deven Judy was the medalist Monday afternoon with a 3-over 39 to lead Belle Vernon to a 211-241 Section 2-AAA victory at Willowbrook Golf Course over visiting Ringgold.

The Leopards had a strong grouping with Michael Lubrani shooting 40, Zach Cicchini finishing with 41, and Frank Guarinoni carding 43. Eric Harkins rounded out the scoring with a 48.

Neil Hancock shared medalist honors for Ringgold (0-2, 0-2) with a 3-over 39. David Zitney scored 42 and Rob Nemec had a 45 for Rams’ rounds under 50.

Belle Vernon improves to 2-1 in the section and 2-2 overall.

Uniontown lost its first Section 2-AAA match Monday at Bulter’s Golf Course 200-215 to Elizabeth-Forward.

Elizabeth-Forward’s Pat McCall carded an even-par 36, while teammates Mike Ragan and Mark Simon each finished with 39.

Joey Klingensmith and Dave DeMaio each carded a 43 for the Warriors.

Tyler Frazee was low-man for Uniontown with a 4-over 40. Devin Morrison finished with a 41, while Logan Levander finished with a 43. Callahan Abel carded a 49, and Rylee Levander finished with a 52.

Uniontown (2-2, 2-1) hosts Belle Vernon at Duck Hollow Gold Club on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

The Commodores finished strong at the back end of the lineup Monday afternoon as Frazier slipped by Derry Area, 238-240, at Linden Hall Golf Course to remain undefeated in Section 2-AA action.

The Commodores improve to 2-0 in the section. Derry is 1-1 in the section.

Frazier was behind early when Annika Erdely shot 52 and Mark Dillon finished with 48, as compared to Jake Zemba’s 46 and Dan Bisi’s 45. Erdely’s score was eventually thrown out.

The match turned in the Nos. 3-4 foursome when Josh Miller came in with a 47 and Gregg Masneri carded a co-medalist 9-over 45. The Trojans’ Kole Thomas shot a 50 and Brian Cignetti’s 58 was thrown out.

The final foursome had the Commodores’ Blair Elliott and Emily Marshall both shooting 49, while Derry’s Dustin Boring scored 50 and Isaac Buterbaugh shot 49.

Geibel Catholic defeated Connellsville, 240-280, in a non-section match at Pleasant Valley Country Club on Monday.

The Gators’ Anthony Lovat was medalist with an 8-over 42. Matthew Emerson shot a 47, and John-Luke Tlumack shot a 48 for the Gators.

Geibel Catholic teammates Bailey Miller and Vinny Delsignore finished with 49 and 54 respectively.

Hayden Harvey was low-man for Connellsville with a 52. Nolan Porterfield (53), Molly Bower (57), Seth Haggerty (58), and Alexis Kaper (60) also counted in the final score for the Falcons.

Geibel Catholic (1-3) hosts Jeannette on Wednesday at Pleasant Valley Country Club.

Tennis

The Lady Trojans lost only four games Monday afternoon as California cruised to a 5-0 Section 1-AA road victory at Jeannette.

Elizabeth Wohar, at No. 1 singles, and Nina Victoria, at No. 3 singles, both won 6-0, 6-0. Danielle Koehler dropped only one game in her straight-sets victory at No. 2 singles.

Rachel Wilkinson and Devan Altman didn’t drop a game to win their No. 1 doubles match. Hanna Custer and Nicole Carson completed the sweep, winning at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, 6-3.

Brownsville split the doubles matches Monday afternoon, but Greensburg Central Catholic swept the singles matches for a 4-1 Section 1-A home victory over the Lady Falcons.

Alyvia Kluska, Michaela Kluska and Kate Bryan swept the singles matches for the Lady Centurions.

Brownsville’s duo of Becca Bochna and Peyton Jacobs won No. 1 doubles while Greensburg C.C.’s Lexi Vittone and Keeley Maloney took the No. 2 spot.

Brownsville (2-1) travels to California on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in Section 1-AA action.
