Deichert finishes 2nd in Cal U/Marty Uher Invite
Laurel Highlands senior Marisa Deichert finished second Saturday in the 43rd California University of Pa./Marty Uher Invitational held at Roadman Park.
Deichert covered the 5K course in 20:15, over a minute behind Mt. Lebanon’s Kelsey Potts. Emily Rohm (8, 21:58), Bristyn Yanick (9, 22:19), Alexis Kostelnik (13, 22:55), and Kendra Kerr (37, 25:11) also factored in the Fillies’ second-place team finish.
Uniontown’s Jade Bellotti was fifth in a time of 21:05. Cilena Francis (52, 26:15), Madison Bertovich (54, 26:19), Brooke Bertovich (61, 26:52), and Hillary Humberston (82, 28:42) rounded out the Lady Raiders’ top five.
Albert Gallatin’s top finisher was Skyler Bogus in 21st place with a time of 23:51. Kaitlyn Podlogar (66, 27:17), Jessica Ayersman (80, 28:29), Pam McKnight (94, 30:11) and Abby Borsodi (110, 34:04) also ran for the Lady Colonials.
Brownsville’s Kara Rohlf was 19th with a time of 22:55. Alie Seto (39, 25:31) and Katelyn Victor (99, 30:42) also competed for the Lady Falcons.
Frazier’s Christina Babyak was 111th in a time of 34:06.
Uniontown’s Braden Carei was the first local male finisher, placing ninth in a time of 18:32. Paul Klatt was seven seconds behind in 12th place and Patrick Hager placed 15th in 18:51. Justin Hostetler (27, 19:24) and Conner Tibbe (37, 19:47) also counted in the Red Raiders’ final score.
Jefferson-Morgan’s Aaron Mylan finished 18th with a time of 18:58.
Kolt Buckley was the first Laurel Highlands boy to finish, placing 22nd with a time of 19:10. Teammate Gregg Maruca trailed by 11 seconds for 25th place. Jordan Eadie (38, 19:50), Nathan Smith (47, 20:25) and Roy Bowlen (59, 21:01) rounded out the Mustangs’ top five.
Frazier’s Nyoah Marteny was 31st overall with a time of 19:32.Teammate Daniel Babyak was 99th in 24:52.
Albert Gallatin’s Brian Bogus finished 49th in 20:27. Brian McKnight (53, 20:36), Colton Barkefelt (79, 22:36), David Wallace (81, 22:46), and Hunter Latkanick (96, 24:42) rounded out the Colonials’ top five.
Josh Miller led Brownsville home in 70th place with a time of 21:54. Josh Zahuranic (91, 23:28) and Seth Johnston (112, 27:59) also ran for the Falcons.
College cross country
Uniontown graduates Brady Guthrie and Billy Seliga began their collegiate careers with a strong showing for Penn State Fayette, the Eberly Campus with top 12 finishes.
Guthrie medaled after finishing the 5k course at Westmoreland County Community College in 17:37. Seliga was 12th with a time of 21:00.
A pair of Connellsville graduates also ran for the Lady Roaring Lions with Hayley Eutsey making the medals stand with a sixth-place finish in 23:51 and Samantha Virgillo placing 15th in 30:00.
Potomac State won the men’s team title, while Pitt-Greensburg won the women’s team crown.
