By The 2 min read

The Waynesburg University men’s soccer team settled for a 4-4 second-straight double-overtime draw on Saturday against Illinois Institute of Technology as part of the Defiance College Purple and Gold Classic.

Yellow Jacket (0-0-2) senior Colin Nelson opened the game’s scoring with a goal that came just 59 seconds into the contest. Sophomore Brio Davis had the assist.

Illinois Tech (0-0-1) responded with the next three tallies, before Waynesburg goalkeeper Cam Allen took advantage of the Ohio winds to pull off the rare goalie goal that trimmed the deficit to 3-2.

Davis added a goal of his own to tie the contest in the 47th minute, before Tech regained the lead in the 70th minute.

Sophomore Joey Buchanan fired in his team’s fourth goal of the game with less than three minutes remaining in regulation to force overtime and the eventual tie.

The Jackets manage to hang on for the tie, despite being out-shot 21-to-eight.
