Vulcan women rout Shepherd, 91-57
The California (Pa.) women’s basketball team pushed out to a substantial halftime lead and the Vulcans maintained the pressure in the second half for a 91-57 non-conference win at Shepherd (W.Va.).
California (5-1) led 45-29 at halftime and then carried the play in the final 20 minutes with a 46-28 advantage.
Miki Glenn led the Vulcans with a double-double, scoring a game-high 22 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. She also made 10-of-12 free throws.
Teammate Emma Mahady finished with 20 points and eight rebounds. Lana Doran (15) and Kaitlynn Fratz (13) were also in double figures.
The Vulcans made 22-of-26 free throws, nearly double that of Shepherd (10-of-13).
Arden Morgan was the lone player for Shepherd (4-2) in double figures with 20 points.
Allegheny 92, Waynesburg 70
The visiting Gators blew the game open in the second half, outscoring the Yellow Jackets, 54-36, for a non-conference victory.
Allegheny (5-2) led at halftime, 38-34.
Addy Knetzer led Waynesburg (2-3) with 17 points. Katie Gehlmann finished with 14 points and Haley Delaney added 10.
Jessica Mrdjenovich scored a game-high 28 points for Allegheny. Rachel Vigliotti (17 points, 10 rebounds), Kendall Hoffman (14, 10), and Emma Pellicano (13, 11) all had double-doubles for the Gators.
